Questions for patients Instructions for patients

There are many different techniques for hernia repair. Rapid advances have been made over the past 10 years with the advent of laparoscopy and new bioprostheses, including improved meshes that are used to secure the hernia repair.

There continues to be controversy among surgeons all over the world as to the best approach to fix hernias. The limiting factors of all techniques to varying degrees are pain after surgery, speed of recovery and recurrence of the hernia. Research in the field of hernia repair consistently demonstrates that the degree of pain and low recurrence rates following surgery correlate directly with the experience and expertise of the hernia surgeon, especially in cases of laparoscopic repair. For this reason, Dr. Yunis' extensive experience and mastery of all available hernia repair techniques mean less pain, fast recovery and a significantly reduced likelihood of recurrence for his patients.

Dr. Yunis has a mission: "My pledge to my patients is to evaluate each of them on an individual basis. My knowledge and experience with all techniques for hernia repair allow me to select the most comfortable and durable approach for every one of my patients."
